How Teaching Through Curiosity Academy handles personal information.
1. Who we are
Teaching Through Curiosity Academy is responsible for deciding how personal information collected through the Academy is used. Privacy enquiries can be sent to info@ttcacademy.co.uk.
2. Information we may collect
Depending on the facilities a learner chooses to use, this may include name and contact information; account and enrolment information; course progress; learning-journal entries; essays or other work submitted for feedback; tutorial conversations; saved job or volunteering interests; application-tracker information; correspondence with the Academy; and limited technical/security information needed to operate the website.
3. Why we use information
We may use personal information to provide courses and learner accounts, keep learning progress, respond to enquiries, process enrolments, provide tutorial and feedback functions, improve and secure the service, meet legal obligations and, where the learner chooses to use them, provide careers or volunteering features.
4. Lawful bases
The lawful basis will depend on the purpose. It may include performance of a contract with the learner, taking steps requested before entering a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Academy, or consent where consent is the appropriate basis.
5. AI services
If live AI tutoring is introduced, relevant learner prompts and context may need to be transmitted securely to an AI service provider in order to generate a response. Before that facility is activated, this policy will identify the relevant provider and explain the associated data handling. Learners should avoid submitting unnecessary highly sensitive personal information to an AI tutor.
6. Payments
Payments may be handled by a specialist provider such as PayPal. The payment provider processes payment information under its own privacy terms. The Academy may receive transaction identifiers, payment status and related information needed to administer an enrolment, but does not need to store full card details.
7. Jobs and volunteering
The Academy connects learners to external vacancy and volunteering providers, so searches or links may involve third-party services. Where personal information is transferred to another service, we will explain the relevant arrangement where required. Opening an external vacancy website is subject to that organisation's own privacy policy.
8. Who we share information with
We may use trusted service providers for website hosting, email, payments, security, data storage and, when introduced, AI functionality. Providers should receive only information reasonably necessary for their role and will be subject to appropriate contractual or legal safeguards where required.
We may also disclose information where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
9. International transfers
Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we will use an appropriate lawful mechanism.
10. How long we keep information
We will not keep identifiable personal information for longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, taking account of learner access, contractual records, legal obligations, complaints, security and accounting requirements. More specific retention periods will be documented as live account systems are introduced.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so learners should also use strong, unique passwords and protect their own devices and accounts.
12. Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give individuals rights including access to their personal data, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and the right to withdraw consent where consent is relied upon.
Requests can be made to info@ttcacademy.co.uk. Individuals also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if they are dissatisfied with how their information has been handled.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Academy develops, particularly when learner accounts, payments, AI tutoring or external vacancy feeds are introduced. The current version will be published on this website.
